The Central and Eastern Ontario Isotope Alliance (CEOIA) is a regional isotope alliance under the leadership of co-chairs Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster and Jason Van Wart, President and CEO of Laurentis Energy Partners.
CEOIA is the second regional isotope collaboration – following the formation and launch of the Southwestern Ontario Isotope Coalition (SOIC) on October 16, 2023, in Owen Sound under the co-leadership of Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy and the Nuclear Innovation Institute.
Facilitating collaboration and innovation will help make this region a recognized leader in all parts of the medical isotope production, delivery, and use pipeline.
Finding solutions
Creating a forum to find solutions to resolve challenges related to the supply of currently available medical isotopes and identify the need for new medical isotopes. Facilitate discussions to develop innovative ways to produce and deliver these new isotopes.
Supporting Patients
Working with medical isotope users (cancer treatment centers) in the region to develop a comprehensive medical isotope needs assessment and will bring together isotope producers and handlers to develop a strategy to address supply shortfalls.
Building diversity
Bringing local suppliers and Indigenous communities into the medical isotope ecosystem, creating economic development benefits to Clarington, Durham Region, and Central and Eastern Ontario while building a more diverse and inclusive isotope workforce.
By bringing together isotope irradiators and producers, isotope processors and handlers (shipping), suppliers of related isotope handling equipment, and end-users in Central and Eastern Ontario, CEOIA will facilitate collaboration and innovation to help grow the medical isotope ecosystem in Central and Eastern Ontario.
